Figures from the Health & Safety Executive have revealed that 100 Rochdalians died of mesothelioma-a rare form of cancer generally caused by exposure to asbestos- between 1981 and 2011. This has likely been caused by expopsure to asbestos at the TBA plant, therefore the site of TBA should not be used for housing.
