Work has started on the dismantling of Sparth's landmark gas holder. It has towered over the area for almost 120 years, but now the last remaining gas holder on Church Street is being taken down after the two smaller structures were removed last year. National Grid have already demolished the underground tank and are now dismantling the frame piece by piece.
