This is a poem from Babylon in the 3rd millennium BC. Enkidu is created by the gods to challenge King Gilgamesh. The two become friends and, travelling together, they fight and slay the evil monster Humbaba. Enkidu is killed and his death haunts and breaks the mighty Gilgamesh.
